Variables Impacting  Health Equity

• One's physical environment, as  well as social surroundings, play an instrumental role in health  and wellness
• Environmental variables also  have a significant impact on  one's health. These are linked to  the quality of the air we breath  as well as the water we drink.
• These factors are called  determinants of health.
• These variables can be linked to  "disease and health disparities  when the places where people  live, work, learn, and play are  burdened by social inequities"  (Braveman, 2018).

• According to Mannoh et al., Social  determinants of health (SDOH) describe  conditions in one's environment that  impact health, quality of life, outcomes,  and risks (2021).
