Executive Summary
Childcare needs are an ever-growing problem in todays’ society. The lack of availability of adequate and affordable childcare is increasingly causing individuals to miss work or lose their employment.
“In the United States, 19.6% of working-age adults stated that they were not working due to the disruption of their childcare arrangements due to COVID-19. Of those, women ages 25-44 are almost three times as likely as men to not be working due to childcare demands. About one in three (32.1%) of these women are not working because of childcare, compared to 12.1% of men in the same age group.” (US Census Bureau, 2020)
Today, more than 40% of all children below primary-school age – or nearly 350 million – need childcare but do not have access, according to a report by the World Bank. As a result, too many children are spending time in unsafe and unstimulating environments. (Nearly 350 Million Children Lack Quality Childcare in the World, n.d.)
